Broadbeach United is enjoying one of its best starts to a season in years.
Apart from sitting on top of the Gold Coast Premier League table, the Dolphins are scoring goals off the field too. New sponsors, strong juniors and better management of match days has lifted the fundraising of the small club in 2009 as well.
Isuzu Ute is the new backer of the seniors and Ray White Broadbeach has continued as juniors sponsor.
Paul Vuko, the sales and operations boss of Isuzu Ute, said he was keen to get involved with a local club upon moving to the Coast after 25 years in the motor industry in NSW.
He also has two sons, Justin and Marc, playing in the Broadbeach blue and gold. Vuko played soccer for about 30 years himself, his last game ironically on the Gold Coast about four years ago in an over-40s carnival.
Ray White Broadbeach principal Gary Gannon has been a long-time backer of the Broady juniors.
The club has put more effort into coaching juniors this season with the appointment of Kevin Lindo as junior coaching director and he has recruited senior players to assist.
Adem Poric's Total Football Academy has also joined forces with Broadbeach and has three gun junior teams playing in under-10s, I Is and 13s. And to top off the football momentum, the club's Chelsea Avenue ground has had a spruce up courtesy of local councillor Eddy Sarroff.
The perimeter fence has been repaired, bent guard rails replaced and the No.2 field has been returfed. There are also plans for a new grandstand.
