Broadie, Kings Shapes as Top Game
Update: Broadbeach, in a solid and impressive attacking match, have defeated a very classy Tweed outfit 4-2. Tweed played some high-standard football for the first 20 minutes, however the Dolphins battled hard and went in at half time deadlocked at 1-1.
In the second half Broady's strong attacking ability shone through seeing three unanswered goals being scored. In consolation, the Kings scored with the last kick of the game to make the scoreline a more respectable 4-2 in an very crowd-pleasing, skilful game.
Broady are still poised to make an unbelievable attempt at three premierships in-a-row. With as many as seven teams still in the running for a finals spot, the reigning premiers won't have it all their own way but believe the Broady sprit will put them right in the mix come finals time.
Broadbeach United host Tweed Valley Kings today in what shapes as the Gold Coast Premier League's soccer match of the round.
Just one point separates the third and fourth-placed sides with reigning premiers Broadbeach trailing the southerners by a draw.
When the two sides met in Round 2 they split the points 1-1 at Reg Dalton Oval and this afternoon's rematch should be just as tight.
Neither side can afford to leave empty-handed with fifth-placed Merrimac lying in wait two points adrift Broadbeach.
Last weekend Broadbeach made the most of hosting seasoned strugglers Musgrave, banging home 9-0 unanswered goals to cement their position in the top four and take their goal difference to a competition-best 34.
